Bingo is often played
using the full line rule
set but there are many
interesting variations on
the game of bingo that can

Bingo and Learning |

At this age often the
game is more effective
in small groups with
an older child or
instructor taking each
group and helping them
with each letter and
number called. As
children get older and
have learned to read
and write the game can
once again be changed.
For example it is
often modified into a
vocabulary game to
teach new words or to
work on spelling or
reading. By replacing
numbers on the card
with words being
worked on and by
making the children
spell the word out
before moving onto the
next one. Even into
high school bingo can
still be seen used as
a learning tool. Often
seen in foreign
language classes to
again teach new words
and expand vocabulary
in a fun way. Many
basic language classes
will play a modified
game of bingo at least
once a week to
reinforce new
information learned
that week, or to
introduce new material
about to be covered.
Based on how easy
bingo is to modify, it
has many practical
educational
applications.
